​Our clients came to us with the requirement to create a sympathetic indoor swimming pool in a mature landscape. Their wish was to create a space where they could spend their time but not necessarily use the pool. As such a catering, dining, and lounge area also had to be considered. It was recommended that the larger building required to fulfil the brief should have its volume hidden. Therefore we broke down the architectural elements to reduce the impact of the structure. Occupancy would not be more than 8 people so the size and definition of internal spaces was essential. Symmetries and vistas are used extensively. The site was in a very sensitive area with extensive planning issues. The technical and air handling issues involved were also challenging.
